Some, though not all, clients may benefit from treatment with medication in addition to therapy. If you and your therapist decide that medication would be appropriate in your treatment, our medical care team will collaborate with your therapist to provide you with personalized and comprehensive care that will help you meet your treatment goals. Our medical care team is comprised of an adult psychiatrist, a child and adolescent psychiatric physician and a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

It is important to remember that medications can affect people in different ways, so it may take multiple tries to determine what medication and dosage is the most beneficial for you. This is why our medical care team takes the time to thoroughly examine how medication changes are working out for you during follow up appointments. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (or NIMH), “Medications can play a role in treating mental disorders and conditions and are often used in combination with other treatment approaches,” such as individual counseling (aka psychotherapy).
